Weymouth, ENG
I am an educator and Forest School practitioner with a multidisciplinary background spanning human osteology, forensic investigation, ecology, healthcare and outdoor learning.
I am the founder and director of Bugs, Bones & Botany CIC, where I create inclusive, hands-on learning experiences that encourage children and young people to investigate the natural world, explore science and follow their curiosity. My practice combines Forest School principles with practical science, ecology, anatomy, osteology, archaeology and forensic investigation, allowing learning to develop naturally through exploration, experimentation and discovery.
I hold an MSc in Human Osteology and Funerary Archaeology, a BSc in Forensic Investigation and a Certificate in Ecology and Wildlife Conservation. My wider professional background includes working on the frontline in the ambulance service, as well as experience in healthcare, patient safety and forensic research. I am a Level 3 trained Forest School practitioner and have training in safeguarding and first aid.
I also have experience volunteering with Scouts, supporting children to develop skills, confidence and independence through practical activities and outdoor experiences.
I have both personal and family experience of neurodivergence, giving me a strong understanding of the different ways children and young people may experience, communicate with and respond to the world around them. This informs my approach to inclusion: providing flexibility, reducing unnecessary demands and barriers, recognising sensory and emotional needs, and creating environments where young people can engage in ways that work for them.
I am particularly interested in creating flexible, accessible learning environments in which young people can develop confidence, independence and scientific thinking at their own pace. My approach is child-led, practical and curiosity-driven, with plenty of room for unexpected questions, investigations and the occasional scientific rabbit hole.
